GMO 2.0 mainly includes CRISPR-Cas9 and the ease with which regular, non-scientific citizens can create their own strains of genetically modified microbes. These microbes have the potential to alter the genetic structure of other microbes that have evolved over millions of years. This could wreak havoc on our environment and our own gut microbiome.
